Athena

Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom came to life in a extremely strange way, her father Zeus heard a prophecy that his child would be stronger than him, so he ate Metis, her mother, the goddess of thought, Metis was pregnant when Zeus ate her so Athena was born out of Zeus’s head in full armor. She was the namesake of Athens, Greece

Artemis

Artemis, goddess of the Hunt was the strong independent ruler of the woods, who swore never to marry, The minute Artemis was born she popped up and helped her twin brother Apollo out as well! She was the loyal hunting friend of Orion, whom she placed in the stars after she shot him by accident. A temple dedicated to Artemis in Turkey is one of the Seven wonders of the ancient world.

Demeter

Demeter, Goddess of the Harvest is said to have created seasons, when her daughter was kidnapped by Hades, she was so devastated that things on earth began to die, and an icy sheath covered the earth, creating winter,when her daughter comes back they create spring and summer.

Hera

Hera, Greek goddess of marriage. Considered to be the most stunning goddess on Olympus, she spent much of her time tending to her personal beauty, she is often represented in ancient Greek art alongside a male peacock. As the queen of heaven and skies, she could curse people with bad storms. Zeus had a liking for going after other girls and Hera did not like this for example the wood

Aphrodite

Aphrodite, goddess of love. Some ancient Greeks were said to have fallen in love with statues of Aphrodite, she used a cart drawn by swans to fly through the air. According to story, a drop of Uranus’s blood hit the ocean and made a beautiful goddess rose out of it, fully grown, even though she’s technically married to Hephestes god of buildings and craft,she had a child with Ares god of war.

Zeus

Greek god of sky’s and heaven, Could beat all the gods single handily in a match of tug a war, he Controlled all the worlds weather, and ruler of Heaven, murderd his father and tried to eat one of his children, Zeus’s spirit animal was a Eagle, which was his personal messenger, Zeus might have been the most powerful god he is also the most scared, every child he had he was scared it would be far more powerful than him!

Hades

Greek God of the Underworld, oversaw all of the dead souls and barely left the Underworld, he had a invisibility helmet that he got from a Cyclopes and a three headed dog named Cerberus, who guarded the gates to the Underworld, he was also married to Demeter’s daughter Persephone whom he kidnapped! When the soles got into the under world Hades would separate them to where they go there, If someone was good there whole life they would go to Elysium, If you were bad your whole life you would go to Tartarus, If you were in the middle you would go to Asphodel Fields.

Poseidon

Greek god of the seas, Lived in a under water palace made from coral and jewels decorated in sea flowers, and was the god who created the horse, Poseidon rode the waves in a gold chariot pulled by half horse half serpent creatures with golden manes, In Disney’s little mermaid Ariel’s father king Triton is supposed to represent Poseidon because he’s the king of the sea’s, and has a Trident

Hermes

Greek god of messenger and thieves, When he was born he could already crawl and talk, When Hermes was only a baby he stole Apollos cattle, when Apollo found out he threatened to through Hermes in Tartarus! once Hermes grew up he did a lot of important tasks he became the gods messenger and helped bring Persephone back from the under world, Hermes was so cool that because he had the ability to fly he go between Olympias, The mortal world, and the Under world!

Ares

Greek god of War, preferred to have on battle armor all the time,even when he wasn’t in war! Ares had ONE constant partner, who was his sister Eris,the goddess of chaos. Ares spent one whole year in a bronze jar as punishment fore his violent ways. a lot of gods did not like Ares because when came around he brought bloodshed and war, not even his Father Zeus was very fond of Ares! talk about the worst kind of popularity.

Apollo

Greek god of Music, Healing, and light, Grew to by a full grown god in one day! Apollo could turn into a dolphin to help sailors home from sea, Because Apollo was a healing god he became known as ” The healer”, The Greeks believe that Apollo drags the Sun across the world in his golden sun chariot, Apollo didn’t even try and train at just four day’s old he slayed a giant serpent that had been torturing a town for who knows how long, talk about brave!

Hephaestus

Greek God of building and craftsmen, Made pretty much everything for the gods including Zeus’s thunder bolt’s,Hermes’s winged shoe’s and hat, Apollo’s golden chariot that he fly’s across the sky to make the Sun come up, the throne’s for the gods, Eros’s silver bow and arrows to make people fall deeply in love, and even Pandora the first women to walk the earth. Hephaestus drove a donkey cart instead of a chariot. Hephaestus stood out to the other gods he was dirty, and weird, and his mother Hera was so ashamed of this that she threw him off Olympus and he was falling for nine day’s.

Dionysus

Greek God of wine,and party, was born from Zeus’s thigh, because he was pretty much born twice, at first he was born from his mother Semele whom was mortal, died in a fire but Zeus felt bad for the baby so he sewed him into his thigh and when Dionysus was ready he was born from Zeus’s thigh! even though Dionysus was not mortal he did have a liking for a princess named Ariadne but unlike him she was mortal, so when she died Dionysus placed her in the stars showing his love for her, her Constellation is known as Corona Borealis, known as “the crown”.

Eros

Greek god of love, Was the child of Aphrodite and Ares, and obviously was more like his mother. Eros had a bow and arrow that he would shot at people to make them madly in love, and it worked on all mortals, and all Gods! Eros’s Roman name was Cupid because, Cupid is the little Baby that shot heart arrows at people to make them fall in love… But enough about Roman more about Greek… Eros was a little puppy to his mother he did everything she told him to do and this time offered a reward, all he had to do was make the Beautiful princess Medea fall in love with hero Jason, but instead Eros fell in love with her, and Aphrodite was really mad at her son!

Pan

Hestia

Greek Goddesses of the hearth,and home, Even though Hestia is referred as a Greek goddesses she gave up her throne to Dionysus, the Greek God of marry making, so that she could take care of the eternal flame on Mount Olympus. Hestia was the first of her siblings to be eaten by her father Cronus but the last to be spit out, which makes her the oldest and the youngest of her siblings. for some reason she is said to have oil dripping from her long curly hair. Every single town in Greece is said to have a hearth in honor Hestia!

Greek God of the wild, and rustic music, had the upper body of a human but the legs, and feet of a goat. The name Pan means all, showing the way that Pan charmed everyone he met. When Pan was born he was NOT normal when he was born he was bleating instead of laughing, and I guess that freaked his mother out, because one look at her baby and she ran, but his Hermes loved him so much he brought Pan to Olympus, and let him charm everyone there. Pan was really the thing that made the Gods actually have fun! Once while pan was walking in the woods he saw a beautiful Nymph named Syrinx, and started chasing her now Syrinx did not like pan so this did not appeal to her, so she called upon the Gods and said “please do something I do not like this man!” and the gods listened they turned her into water reeds, when found this out he was devastated, but he took one of the reeds and kept forever in reminder of his love to Syrinx.
